Animation Director Motion Graphics Film Commercials Art
Sep 8, 2011
My short film A Tax on Bunny Rabbits will be screening at this years Ottawa Animation Festival Sept. 21-25 2011. I’m hoping to be there in person once again this year and looking forward to seeing all the fantastic films and friendly animators!
This is Chantel Elassaad, Festival Coordinator for Rooftop Films. We read about your film “A Tax on Bunny Rabbits” on the Ottawa Animation Film Festival website and we would like to encourage you to submit it to Rooftop Films. Unfortunately, we were not able to make it out to the festival to see your film in person, but we would be excited if you could send us a preview copy for our consideration.
If you aren’t familiar with Rooftop Films (www.rooftopfilms.com), here is a little info: we are a thriving independent film festival that screens new, independently produced films of all genres, formats and lengths all summer long in New York City. All of our screenings are outdoors—on rooftops, along the river, in parks, and even on boats. We were founded in 1997 and have shown more than 2,000 films since then. We have grown each year and more than 30,000 people attended Rooftop screenings this past summer, with crowds of as many as 1,500 for individual screenings. The films screen in front of the dramatic backdrop of the New York skyline, and it’s a pretty great way to screen movies. Plus we have a smart, loyal fan base made up of people who travel to see our shows from all over the NY Metropolitan area and beyond. We have partnered with many of the foremost film and cultural organizations in the city and beyond, including IFP, SXSW, Hot Docs, Clermont-Ferrand, Full Frame, the International Film Festival of Rotterdam, Slamdance, Sundance, BAM Cinematek, New York’s Museum of Modern Art, IFC, and many others.
If you are interested in submitting for next year’s 2012 Summer Series, please send a DVD along to:
285 5th Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11215
More submission info is available at http://www.rooftopfilms.com/submit.html.
Or you could save the postage and send us a link where we can watch your film online. Just email back with the link.
Our deadline isn’t until February, but if you were able to send it out sooner rather than later that would be appreciated. Rooftop normally charges a low submission fee, but since we are requesting the film we’ll gladly waive the fee if you would like. Regardless, everyone who submits their film will receive two free tickets to the 2012 festival, whether or not your film is selected.
If you have any questions, please email me back and/or check out our website to read a little more about us and see some great pictures from some of our shows. We’re excited to see your work and hopefully we will get the opportunity to screen your film outdoors in New York next summer.
